Inako is a minor country, enclosed by two superior countries: the militaristic Milidonia, with its goal of conquering as much land as possible, and the monotheiestic Selenfalen, devoted to the deity Saint Philia. Ani Inako is the sole princess of her country, and in order to eliminate hostility between the three countries, she is sent as Inako's representative to a peace treaty signing in Selenfalen. However, Ani's hopes of a smooth ceremony are shattered when she meets the eccentric princes from her rival countries. With the treaty binding the three countries together, Ani and the princes must learn to overcome their differences. Together, they search for common ground on which to develop their friendship.

After her battle against the mysterious organization Amarariruku, Teru Momijiyama returns to her regular life in Tokyo—all while secretly continuing to save people as Japan's hero Shy. As a result of her experiences with others, Teru is able to slowly gain confidence in herself. While she still has a long way to go, Teru continues to make progress towards learning what being a hero truly means. While walking around the city after school, Teru runs into Ai Tennouji, whom she quickly befriends and begins to open up toward. Teru quickly learns more about her new friend’s past—she has run away from her village in search of something directly related to Teru's work as Shy. While the threat of Amarariruku continues to loom over her,Teru must decide how closely she is willing to work with the mysterious Ai.

Following a bad experience teaching at a public high school that resulted in a break from working, Haruaki Abe eagerly takes up a new job at Hyakki Academy. Despite his cowardice, the novice teacher is motivated to do better this time around. However, his mind quickly changes when he finds out that everyone at the school is actually a supernatural being known as a youkai, leaving him glaringly out of place as the only human around. Facing his class as its new homeroom teacher, Abe immediately becomes a target for the students' antics due to his quick-to-scare nature. Though as the man starts to learn more about the creatures, as well as himself, getting along with the unruly group might not be as hard as he originally thought as their school lives begin to get more vibrant.
